Planet 9: A Possible Hidden Treasure

by Sara Chaney

Far out, on the edge of our solar system, is a belt of small, frozen rocks that orbit the Sun called the Kuiper Belt. Scientists recently discovered an alignment of six bodies within the belt, which they are currently contributing to a large planet that, if it is really there, would be about ten times  larger and two hundred times further away from the Sun than Earth. There are no guarantees that the planet is even there, but if it is, it will be a great discovery for the field of astronomy and science in general, and if it isn’t there, the discoveries about our solar system will advance astrophysics years ahead of plan.
