Mix it Up at Lunch

By Ethan Woodfill

Avonworth Middle School eighth graders joined with thousands of schools across the country on October 29 to break the social barriers down. Students randomly drew a table number from a hat and sat accordingly at a different lunch table. The purpose of this campaign was to socialize with a diverse group of people to identify other interests. “It makes you communicate with people that you might not have communicated with before. You’ll find out that they’re just like you,” says Mrs. Abate, the 8th grade learning support teacher. You’ve probably know your peers since Kindergarten, but 8th grader, Isabella Lemoncelli believes that: “Even though you know the person’s name, you might not know what their favorite color is or what their favorite sport is.”
